Scoots Barn is a beautiful, one-bedroom self-contained garden annexe in Ripe that is used as luxurious self-catering accommodation.
We’ve been working with the owners for over 15 years, after they saw us completing work on properties within the neighbourhood and instructed us for listed building repair work on their home. Then, in 2015/16 they came to us looking to build the self-contained, oak-framed garden annexe that would become Scoots Barn.
Contact usThe owners wanted to create a modern and luxurious single-storey, self-contained garden annexe that would complement the characteristics of the 17th century main building, Pepperham Cottage.
The annexe was to be fitted with contemporary fittings that would make the best use of the space available, including a fully fitted kitchen and built-in wardrobes.
As well as being privately accessible, the annexe would require an independent driveway with private parking and secluded terrace space to look out across the spectacular views.
Using our knowledge of traditional building materials and techniques, we constructed an oak-framed annexe for its incredible strength and rustic charm that would complement the main cottage.
Bespoke fittings including a slide and hide oven and extractor were installed to maximise the appearance and use of the kitchen space, whilst bi-folding doors enabled the living space to open out and extend onto the terrace. Under floor heating was added to provide an extra touch of warmth and luxury for the colder months.
