After some online research, Lord and Lady Ashtown came to CDMS Sussex looking for a more permanent solution that would enable better privacy in their home, without compromising on style or natural light. We came up with an innovative idea to install a bespoke switchable glass screen that would also allow for flexibility on a day to day basis.
Living in a stunning converted barn with split-level stories, Lord and Lady Ashtown’s main bedroom was visible from the first floor living space. They wanted to be able to create more privacy when needed, without losing view of the barn’s exposed beams or shrouding the room in darkness throughout the day.
After visiting to assess the situation, we recommended a 4ft switchable glass screen to act as a partition that would still maximise the amount of natural light throughout the barn.
On the day of installation, it soon became apparent that the weight and length of the glass would require an area of the staircase bannister to be dismantled, which we carried out to achieve the final result.
“Tony’s idea was a novel solution and we agreed to proceed with the project, although the cost was somewhat more than we had hoped. Tony took a lot of trouble shopping around for the best deal, as some of the quotes he received were astronomical.
On the day of the installation, even with both ends of our road being flooded, Tony and his team arrived on time and tackled the project with gusto; despite taking slightly longer than expected, the team maintained their sense of humour throughout and nothing was too much trouble.
We are very happy with the result and only have praise for Tony Ackerman and his team.”
